A Philosopher President?

Thought this was an interesting article considering our last dicussion on philosopher kings...

  1. Lately I've been hearing a lot about Reinhold Niebuhr. He's one of President Obama's favorite philosophers, a very devout theologian, apparently the original author of the “Serenity Prayer" and an ex-Socialist. He was also one of the original founders for what would evolve to be the Americans for Democratic Action organization.

    "Man's capacity for justice makes democracy possible; but man's inclination to injustice makes democracy necessary."

    “Democracy is finding proximate solutions to insoluble problems."

    Here’s just some brief info on the man. It seems like a strange match for him to be the President’s “favorite philosopher” but he’s actually quite similar. He has a strong belief in militarily interventionism and internationalist policy.
