What role do our worldviews, i.e. our understanding of nature/science, the individual, society, the divine etc., take in shaping our moral philosophy or ethics? In fact what is the difference between morality and ethics itself? Furthermore, what is the nature of ethics within a religious framework? How does a particular theology condition a morality? Here in the following space we will explore these issues and more via turning to the ancient Greeks.

One of the historians said they spent a summer building the Parthenon....really would someone do that? The historian would have needed a large crew to complete such a task.
ReplyDeleteDespite the Greek society sounding too good to be true, I don't believe these historians fabricated the society. It is unrealistic that a group of historians could pull off such a thing. Not only does it seem impossible, doesn't it go against their line of work of accurately preserving history to the best of their ability.
If it were proven that ancient Greek society and accomplishments did not exist, I would be really disappointed. Would ancient Greek courses still be offered in universities? Absolutely as literature courses. Would the true writers receive credit for their works? This is all premature thinking and probably unnecessary as I believe the ancient Greek society and accomplishments to be true.
Yeah, the Onion is satire. I think it is pretty funny though.
ReplyDeleteI love the Onion!!!
ReplyDeleteCheck out Three Quarks Daily for another fun news source. It's not satirical but it does offer some fun and interesting twists to the average media, including poetry and humorous op eds....
Thanks Brian,

Well now that they have admitted their actions and motives for doing so they continue to do so. Some modern historians are appropriating Macedonian ancient history to the ancient City States or Greece what we know today.
